Cristin’s grandma, although disappointed that she didn’t follow in the family footsteps of becoming a medical doctor, grudgingly gave her blessing on her career choice primarily because she did get to wear a doctoral hood at graduation. Despite being a rebellious Black Sheep (okay, an admittedly terrible example of one), she did embrace her longstanding family value of helping others and credits this as the main reason why she loves the work she does.
She’s so skilled at arguing that she can explain how her hobbies of jiu jitsu, tracking cars, snowboarding, yoga, wakeboarding, and obstacle course racing positively contribute to her being able to help people in one word: endorphins. As for her love of high heels? Well, that allows her to make better eye contact with the majority of the population.
While Cristin is as happy squatting 200 lbs and climbing 20 foot ropes as she is upside down in pincha mayurasana, helping her clients navigate the difficult legal and emotional roller coaster of divorce and other family law issues is her true passion in life. Seeing her clients grow throughout the process and discover new insights about themselves is extremely rewarding and exciting. If her clients finish up their cases confident and at peace with starting their new lives, she considers that to be the ultimate measure of winning.
In order to better help her clients and protect their best interests, Cristin became a Certified Family Law Specialist, choosing to dedicate herself to learning as much as possible about divorce and other family law issues. It is the same reason why she is a certified mediator and has training in collaborative law – Cristin believes that being able to provide as much expertise and guidance to her clients as possible helps empowers them to make better decisions for themselves and their children.
Cristin serves as a member of the State Bar’s Bay Area Family Law Standing Committee and belongs to the Association of Certified Family Law Specialists. She additionally functions as a voluntary settlement conference officer in both Contra Costa and Alameda counties, helping people manage their differences and come to final resolutions in their cases.
In between (and sometimes while) attending to clients and overseeing the firm, you’ll find Cristin drinking green smoothies, which she insists are actually tasty. She also enjoys trail running with her perfect Golden Retriever Murphy and encouraging her 115 pound “baby” Wykid Angel to get off the couch and walk to the mailbox.
